mbio.undip.ac.id. Shaima Nawaz, an international student from Pakistan and a recipient of a scholarship from Diponegoro University (Undip), has successfully completed her Master’s degree in Biology on time. On Tuesday (4/6), Shaima defended her thesis titled *Histological Structure of Golden Pompano (Trachinotus blochii) Organs As An Indicator of Heavy Metals (Hg and Pb) Pollution In The Coastal Area Of Jepara, Central Java, Indonesia* in front of an examination committee.
Her thesis was supervised by Prof. Drs. Sapto Purnomo Putro, M.Si, Ph.D, and Dr. Agung Janika Sitasiwi, M.Si, with the examination committee consisting of Rully Rahadian, Ph.D; Dr. Kasiyati, M.Si; and Prof. Dr. Erma Prihastanti, M.Si. During the thesis defense, Shaima confidently and smoothly presented her research.
Prof. Erma Prihastanti, the Head of the Master’s Program in Biology, expressed her appreciation for Shaima. “With her exceptional determination and spirit, Shaima has successfully completed her Master’s studies at Undip. Congratulations and best wishes to Shaima Nawaz on achieving her Master’s degree in Biology,” she said.
Shaima’s research focused on the histological structure of Golden Pompano organs as indicators of heavy metal (Hg and Pb) pollution in the coastal area of Jepara, Central Java, Indonesia. This study is expected to make a significant contribution to the field of environmental biology, particularly concerning the impact of heavy metal pollution on marine ecosystems.
Shaima Nawaz’s achievement serves as an inspiration for other international students and demonstrates Diponegoro University’s commitment to supporting and facilitating high-quality education for students from various countries.
